HTC Sensation: Ice Cream Sandwich update rolling out to Vodafone

With the quad-core running HTC One X about to hit the high street (and the net), last year’s flagship device, the HTC Sensation has only a small window with which to still enjoy the limelight, but  HTC has no intention of leaving it for dead and has been periodically rolling out an Ice Cream Sandwich flavoured update carrier by carrier, starting with Vodafone.HTC Sensation

Officials at Vodafone explained last night:

Great news. The testing of the ICS update for HTC Sensation is complete, and we plan to start rolling out the update tomorrow, 29th March. The update will be rolled out in phases by the Over The Air service, so if yours doesn’t appear right away, you can either wait for it to appear, or go to Settings > About Phone > Software Update > Check now.

The original HTC Sensation was in fact the first of a series of premium devices all bearing its name, including the first Beats-branded HTC Sensation XE and the HTC Sensation XL, their large-screened cousin.

The HTC Sensation was HTC’s first dual-core phone and it still has a competitive spec list, considering the price drop it has undergone since launch (it’s now around £330 sim free). That being said, So pick up your Sensation, download the update and enjoy. It is worth noting that despite the Sensation’s step up to Android’s latest and greatest OS, HTC’s overlay Sense, won’t be receiving quite the same treatment. Although improvements to Sense in its current form are on the cards, the Sensation won’t be getting the full-fat version of Sense 4.0 as seen on the HTC One X, HTC One S and HTC One V.
