HTC T6 tipped for 5.9-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 800 chip

Samsung and LG have proved that people are interested in larger 5- to 6-inch devices, so is HTC ready to throw its own hat into the ring? Possibly, if a report from @evleaks through Unlockr is to be believed. The Twitter tipster claims that the HTC T6 is a 5.9-inch device that will lock in the latest specs to take on the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

The HTC T6 is reportedly influenced heavily by the HTC One, borrowing features such as BoomSound, the Ultrapixel camera, and the general design. Specifications for the device are said to include a 5.9-inch 1080p display, along with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and 3,300mAh battery. In a change of pace for HTC, the T6 is also said to include a microSD card slot for expandable storage.

Interestingly, HTC apparently isn’t aiming to put Jelly Bean on the device. By the time it’s ready to go, Key Lime Pie might already be with us. That would put a potential release closer to the end of the year, however. HTC is also reportedly working on a stylus for the device that will rival the one included on the Galaxy Note 2. A content creation suite will supposedly be offered with the device, and the stylus itself will feature an “ultra thin” tip.

Finally, HTC is said to be working on a battery case for the device that will provide an additional 1,250mAh of juice. The T6 may also include a fingerprint reader on the back of the phone, with the handset only waking up when gripped fingers are placed accordingly.
