Huawei Ascend P2 hands-on photos and video

Huawei extended its device portfolio with the launch of the Ascend P2, the successor to the Huawei Ascend P1, which impressed us last year with its fabulous screen and camera.

The design hasn’t changed much since its predecessor – it’s fairly standard and certainly lacks the wow factor, but Huawei’s boosted the camera resolution, processor and screen technology making it more appealing.

Part of Huawei’s ‘P’ Performance range, the Ascend P2 is attractive device, thanks to its infinity edge 4.7inch screen which incorporates Gorilla Glass technology. Colours are bright and certainly pop out, although we did find the screen very reflective – certainly more than the iPhone 5.

Huawei Ascend P2 main  We were surprised by how light the phone is – it’s just 122g, but it’s made entirely of of plastic so doesn’t feel premium like the iPhone 5 or Nokia Lumia 920, but doesn’t feel flimsy.

A highlight of the phone is its 4G connectivity and Huawei claims it offers the world’s fastest 4G with speeds of 150Mbps  – faster than the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Apple iPhone 5. We weren’t able to test this out and although it’s a great feature to boast about, but until more people use 4G, it’s

The Huawei Ascend P2 is set to launch globally in Q2, there’s no news  yet on UK pricing or availabilty, but with a euro price of just €399 it looks like it might undercut rivals, offering high-end features at a mid price point.
