INQ Cloud Touch: Facebook phone emerges, runs on Android

More details have emerged about the forthcoming ‘Facebook phone’; apparently it’s an Android-based phone called the INQ Cloud Touch.

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group, who licence Bluetooth technologies to phones, yesterday posted the following on it’s site:

“an Android smartphone built to make messaging faster and smarter. It’s designed around the way people naturally communicate and has Facebook built into its core. The homescreen features multiple entry points to different Facebook functions, while a dynamic widget displays a feed of status updates, albums, videos and photos.”

So we can expect a Facebook-centric custom UI running an top of Android. The most recent update to Facebook for Android brought Facebook Chat to Android 2.2 phones. For this reason we’re guessing that the INQ Cloud Touch will run on at least 2.2/Froyo.

No word yet on the look of the phone, or whether it’ll feature any Facebook external branding. We think not, given that INQ’s phones have been referred to as ‘Facebook phones’ ever since the INQ1, and none have done so far.
