Alleged iPad 5 front bezel spied in leaked images

The rumor front has been relatively quiet regarding details of the iPad 5, but an alleged front bezel for the device could give us a clue as to the design that Apple is going for. Nowhereelse.fr has served up two images of a purported white front facia, showing much thinner side bezels that’s indicative of the iPad mini design.

That also falls in line nicely with leaked backplates of the iPad 5 seen a few short months ago. Those depicted a black and slate aluminium design akin to the iPad mini, just on a bigger scale. The display size will reportedly remain at 9.7-inches, and just like existing cellular models, a black strip would adorn the top of the back to allow for radio connectivity.

Rumors have suggested that the iPad 5 has been pushed back to later in the year. The updated tablet was originally slated for a March release, but recent reports have indicated that Apple intends to begin production of its fifth-generation tablet in July or August for a retail release in September or October.

Nowhereelse.fr has a relatively good track record when it comes to Apple leaks. The site published detailed images of Apple’s Lightning dock connector as well as the nanoSIM card tray for the iPhone 5 before the handset was officially announced. The revised design of the iPad makes sense too: it falls in line with the iPad mini, and the reduced bezel size will result in a generally more compact tablet.
