iPhone shatters in extreme cold

A Norwegian woman was refused repairs from an Apple Store after her phone reportedly shattered in freezing outdoor temperatures.

The handset couldn’t cope with Norway’s extreme climate and upon her picking it up she found the back of the iPhone smashed. Extremes of temperature will void an iPhone warranty which states that anything below freezing or above 35 degrees Celsius is dangerous for the phone.

The iPhone does warn you if it is too hot but not if it is freezing cold. A little extra strain on the processor I find usually keeps the handset warm, plus it doubles up as a nice pocket hand-warmer. It might have dropped below freezing this Winter in England but things need to get to Norwegian temperatures before phones start shattering.
