Is this the Sony Xperia Z2 compact?

Sony’s flagship may about to get smaller, according to a Japanese brochure that reveals an ‘Xperia Z2 Compact’.

Pictures leaked from what appears to be a Sony brochure reveal a new handset by the name of the Xperia A2. The Internet is now abuzz with reports the A2, if real, will effectively be an Xperia Z2 Compact — a smaller version of the Z2.

According to the brochure, leaked to the Japanese blog ATRPG, the Xperia A2 sports a 4.3-inch 720×1,280-pixel display. The flagship Xperia Z2, for reference, packs a 5.2-inch screen. The A2’s dimensions are 128mm x 65mm x 9.6mm, so it’s comparable to the Z1 Compact in size, or shorter, slimmer but a tiny bit bulkier than the Z2.

According to the brochure, the Xperia A2 is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM, with 16GB of built in storage. Although these are good specs they fall short of the Sony Xperia Z2‘s 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 processor and 3GB of RAM.

Whether or not it keeps the Z2’s impressive 20.7-megapixel camera is yet to be confirmed.

The brochure reveals the A2 will come in a range of colours including grey black, white, lavender and orange.
