In a blow to its smartphone fans, the LG Optimus 2X will not be getting the Android Ice Cream Sandwich update.
A post of the LG ‘Life’s Good’ Facebook page states: ‘We will not be introducing Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich updates on LG Optimus 2X P990. Keep watching this space for further updates.’
This is surely to be disappointing to many Optimus 2X user, but is hardly surprising considering it hasn’t even had the Android 2.3 Gingerbread software update yet.
It’s a real shame, because the LG Optimus 2X is a really solid smartphone. On it’s launch earlier this uear it was one of the most fully featured smartphones around, with a dual-core Nvidia Tegra chip, 8-megapixel camera and full 1080p video. For gaming it’s a fantastic choice and seemed to have been overshadowed by the Optimus 3
However, despite this strong start, the Optimux 2X suffered in the cometitive Android Market next to competition from HTC and Samsung. LG itself seemed to focusing heavily on the Optimus 3D instead.
