LG to announce two Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich phones at MWC?

LG is apparently announcing a pair of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich-running phones at Mobile World Congress this year, a high-end offering alongside a lower-specced, mid-level entry.

Codenamed the LG-P800 and LG-P700 respectively, the former is thought to be the internal name for the rumoured LG X3 phone which is said to have an 8-megapixel camera, 16GB of internal storage, microSD slot and a huge 4.7-inch 1280×720 (720p) screen. Nvidia’s Tegra 3 quad-core CPU is also mooted, alongside a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for videocalls/self-portraits/expensive digital mirror action.

Given that the (sadly US-only) LG Spectrum looks pretty darn amazing, we’re hoping that LG will do us Europeans good with a powerhouse phone to call our own. The PPI count wouldn’t be quite as high on the LG-P800 as on the Spectrum if the rumours are to be believed, but we’ll daresay it’ll be high enough for most people.

The latter LG P700 we’ve not heard much else about on the rumour-vines. Its screen is said to have a display resolution of 640×480 (VGA) resolution which, according to MoDaCo, is something we’ve not seen on Android phones before. If true then we’d expect the screen to be pretty small, like sub 3-inches. Maybe it’ll come with a Qwerty keyboard, a la the HTC ChaCha, tucked underneath. Or it could be a flip phone…

We’re heading out to Mobile World Congress and will be of course swinging by the LG stand, reporting on anything and everything that’s there.
