Motorola Xoom: Priced in the UK. £449.99

The first Android 3.0 Tablet looks set to cost you under £500, according to PC World, who now have a pre-order page for the 10.1-inch tablet.

Eurodroid spotted the announcement, which is noticeably less than, and not far off some of the forthcoming dual-phones. Expect the 3G version to cost a little extra.

With the first version of Google’s Android OS to be specifically designed for tablets, expect all of Google’s apps and services to be lovingly redesigned for all that touchscreen space, and Google Talk should get augmented for video-chat with the Xoom’s front-facing two-megapixel camera.

The rear-facing five-megapixel camera is capable of 720 HD video capture, which can be displayed on bigger screens through a HDMI connection.

It’s the Big Threat to the iPad, and the first Android tab that looks like it can compete toe-to-toe with Apple’s tablet. That is, until we see what Apple have in-store for their next iPad. We’ll see tomorrow.
