Nokia Lumia handsets to get Nokia TV app?

Rumours have begun circulating that a Windows Phone 7 television app – named Nokia TV – has been created for Nokia Lumia handsets, such as the Nokia Lumia 800 or Nokia Lumia 710 following images posted on a Russian website.

Pictures of the previously unannounced app, which according to the download screen is a free download, show off some of its possible features.

Users will apparently be able to search for programmes that are listed in categories, as well as those collected into ‘Featured’ sections or listed based on shows a user has previously watched.

Content appears to come from a mix of different TV networks and may allow users to download shows to be watched when they are out of mobile or Wi-Fi range, as well as streaming archived programmes or even live TV when they do have a good signal.

Word is that the app will make its debut in Finland, showcasing content from local TV stations MTV3, Nelopen and YLE.

Whether that would translate into a Nokia TV app in the UK that binds together channels such as BBC iPlayer, ITV player, 4OD and Demand 5 remains to be seen.

We’ll bring you more information when we get it.
