Nokia N9 launching in Europe September 15th?

Nokia fans, the wait is almost over – well at least those in Switzerland. According to Orange Switzerland, the Nokia N9 is due to arrive on September 15th.

The N9 has the distinction of being the first and last consumer handset to run the company’s MeeGo operating system, which is a big shame, because when we first saw the N9 earlier this year we were really impressed. Check out our Nokia N9 Hands-on gallery here.

In the Nokia N9 information page on the Orange Switzerland website it states: ‘get ready for its launch on 15.9.2011.’

Constructed from a single piece of aluminium , with a 3.9-inch Super AMOLED screen the hardware is certainly appealing. But it’s the software that has piqued our interest, with three Applications, Social Networking and Open Applications, screens you can swap between by swiping your finger over the glass. Powered by an ARM Cortex-A8 Other features include a 8-megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss lens and NFC chip.

On it’s initial launch the UK was left off the list of countries the N9 is launching in and still isn’t on the Nokia UK website. We contacted Nokia UK to see if there was any more news on whether it will be coming here and we’ll let you know as soon as there’s a response.
