Nokia Windows 8 tablet launching in Q4?

We’re hearing more information about the rumoured Windows 8 Nokia tablet, including processor, screen size and a Q4 launch date.

Digitimes is reporting that the tablet will include a 10-inch screen and be powered by a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset.

Nokia will source production of the tablets to Compal Electronics, ordering 200,000 units in the first batch of shipment.

Nokia hasn’t even officially confirmed it will be making a tablet yet. But Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system is due this summer (which has been designed from the ground up to work on PCs and tablets) and considering the close relationship between the two company’s, a Nokia tablet seems like a safe bet.

Just last year Paul Amsellam from Nokia France suggested a Nokia Windows 8 tablet would be landing in June 2012. Niklas Salvander,  Nokia’s VP of markets, speaking to the Australian Financial Review, wouldn’t comment on the rumours, but admitted it was an attractive proposition.

We’d really like to see a Windows 8 tablet from Nokia. With the Microsoft Windows 8 consumer preview available now, it seems Microsoft might have an OS to rival the iPad and we’re really curious about the Nokia hardware. We’ll bring you more news when we get it.
