Orange customers to get free iTunes film

Orange users will soon be able to take advantage of free weekly movie downloads via iTunes, with Orange Film to Go.

Launching on August 11th, each Thursday a new film will be available to download. Orange customers need to get hold of a unique code, either by texting FILMTOGO to 85060 (which costs 35p) or visiting the Orange Film to Go Facebook page and downloading via iTunes.

The offer isn’t just open to phone customers either. Orange Mobile Broadband customers can send a text to download the movie to a computer via iTunes and once there it can be synched to an iPod Touch or iPad.

Terms and conditions appear to be the same as normal rentals from the iTunes store. Once download customers have have 30 days to watch the film and 48 hours to watch it once you press play, although the movie can only be downloaded on a Thursday.

The first film available is My Blueberry Nights, but other titles coming up over the next few weeks include: The Wrestler, The Ghost and Che:Part One.

Spencer McHugh from Orange UK said: “Giving our valued customers a film download every week to enjoy at home or out and about on a mobile device is a great way to thank them for being part of Orange. We’ve got some fantastic titles lined up for the launch and even more yet to be announced, so we’re hoping to see a significant number of our customers taking up this offer.”

With Orange Wednesdays and now Film to Go on Thursday, it appears Orange is really cornering the market for film fans, although O2 recently introduced its Priority Moments service, offering half-price cinema tickets, along with discounts on food and drink.

It’s certainly an enticing offer and should be very popular and should certainly see a new batch of iTunes downloads.
