Panasonic Eluga dL1 on sale now sim-free

It would seem that one online retailer has beaten everyone else to the punch. Expansys is flaunting what could well be Panasonic’s first UK smartphone launch, the Eluga dL1 is now on sale and in stock for £364.99 SIM free (currently only available in black, but with a silver option arriving next week).

The Eluga isn’t quite the new jewel in Panasonic mobile crown, that spot has been reserved for the Eluga Power, expected to arrive later this year, but you still get a comprehensive spec sheet for your money.

The Panasonic Eluga dL1 Alongside a 1GHz dual-core processor, there’s 1GB of RAM and 8GBs of allotted user storage. The 4.3-inch OLED display also proves competent with its qHD resolution and the camera on the back is a capable 8MP unit adorned with autofocus and an LED flash. Although the dL1 comes running Android Gingerbread 2.3.5, plans to upgrade this to Ice Cream Sandwich are already in the works for later this year.

The Eluga also holds IP57 certification, meaning it’s dust resistant, water resistant in up to a metre of water for up to 30 minutes and it’s just 7.8mm thick, not a bad spec list, especially when considering the price. We did in fact spend a little time with the Eluga earlier this year, check out what we thought of it at first glance, submerged in water and all in our Panasonic Eluga hands-on.

For those of you put off by the slightly older feature set however, hold off for the newer Eluga Power. The younger brother to the dL1 is expected this year too and as well as maintain that IP57 certification, it also houses a the newer Snapdragon S4 dual-core CPU, similar to the found in the HTC One S.
