Rumours of Apple unveiling not one but two iPads this year continue to reach our ears. But this one that comes by way of a Digitimes report is different from the ‘iPad nano with a 7.85-inch screen’ stories we’d previously heard.
Digitimes’ unnamed source states that both of the new iPads will feature the same size 9.7-inch screens seen in previous editions, and boast a resolution of 1536 x 2048 (QXGA).
One of the iPads is said to come with a 8-megapixel main camera, the image sensor for which is reportedly being made by Sony. The other is said to boast a 5-megapixel camera, which will be made by Samsung.
The story lists a string of manufactures who’ll be making components for the new iPads. Supposedly Sharp will be making the displays along with Samsung and LG. Apple’s best buddies Samsung is also said to be making the quad-core A6 chip that’ll sit inside both new editions of the tablets.
Though not confirmed we’d expect to see some kind of Siri integration on the next generation of iPads. It’s thought that all will be revealed on the 26th of January at iWorld, at the Moscone Centre in San Francisco. We’ve marked the date down and will be keeping an eye open but pending any official comment from Apple we’ll reach for the jar of salt as well.
