Samsung Galaxy S4 to feature Smart scroll and Smart pause

The Samsung Galaxy S4 will feature two new TouchWiz features: eye-based scrolling via Smart scroll and Smart pause.

SamMobile discovered two screenshots which are (allegedly) from the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S4. Smart scroll is method of scrolling using your eyes. The software recognises your eyes as they move down the page and when they reach the bottom automatically displays the next paragraphs. The screenshots indicate users will be able to select whether Smart scroll works with the Internet, Chrome, Email and Gmail messages, along with the scrolling speed.

When activated Smart pause detects when your head moves away from the screen and automatically pauses video.

In addition Sammy Hub claims the Samsung Galaxy S4 will feature a full HD 1080p screen.

Both features look really interesting – Smart scroll in particular. If it works effectively it could be incredible or one of those features that no-one ever uses. If it’s in a new version of TouchWiz we would hope to see them brought to the Samsung Galaxy S3 in a future update.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is probably the most eagerly anticipated Android phone of the year and is expected to be revealed at Samsung Unpacked in New York on March 14th. We’ll find out all information then.
