Specs for Samsung’s 
Galaxy Tab 8.9 have been leaked ahead of the official announcement at CTIA in the US.
This confirms speculation that the Tab 8.9 will be a Android 3.0-running dual-core tablet, like its 10.1-inch sized sibling. This means it should multitask like a good ‘un, benefit from better battery life and run some of the higher end Android games, like the ones available through the Tegra Zone app.
It looks as though the Tab 8.9 will be coming with a new-look custom UI loaded on top of Honeycomb as well. According to the snaps taken by PocketNow, the Tab 8.9 comes with Samsung’s own Live Panel, a personalised homescreen which can be customised and tweaked to include things like calendar, email and photo gallery shortcuts and Samsung’s own Buddies Now social network aggregation tool.
There’s also a Mini Apps launcher which sits at the bottom of the screen, that gives you quick access to up to six other apps that might be running in the background.
Previous versions of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 we’ve seen have come with vanilla Android 3.0. So it may be that this custom UI ends up being exclusive to the Tab 8.9, or when the Tab 10.1s finally launch in the UK, they’ll come tricked out with the Live Panel and Mini Apps as well.
The Galaxy Tab 8.9 also looks to be very light, like the Tab 10.1, weighing in at 470 grams. It measures just 8.6mm thick as well, which is almost as thin as the Samsung Galaxy S II (8.49mm) and thinner than most phones.
