Samsung rolls out new apps for the Galaxy Note’s S Pen

Alongisde the launch of the Galaxy Note at last night’s London event, Samsung announced a string of new apps designed to work with the fancy S Pen stylus.

The new Note apps, available from the S Choice hub, include drawing and note taking apps apps such as ComicBook! OmniSketch, Zen Brush, iAnnotate PDF and Soonr (spelt ‘Sooner’ in the screengrab above).

Simon Stanford, Managing Director, Mobile, Samsung UK and Ireland said: “We’ve had a great response from our retail partners, customers and industry watchers alike following the Galaxy Note announcement at IFA in September and are excited that consumers will be able to buy the device from a wide range of retailers as of next week. The Galaxy Note is a unique device and represents a whole new smartphone experience for our customers, bringing together all the benefits of our award-winning smartphone technology and services.”

Samsung’s small tablet/massive phone is due to arrive in the UK on the 3rd of November, according to the latest statement from Samsung, despite last night’s event suggesting otherwise.

Wacom, makers of the ace Bamboo stylus and the Inkling Digital Pen, announced last night that it was “delighted to announce its partnership with Samsung” in bringing its digital pen technology to the Galaxy Note.

President & CEO of Wacom Masahiko Yamada said in a statement: “Our mission is to provide the best user interface experiences that are creative, natural, precise and intuitive to use. Our partnership with Samsung is an important step for us to introduce a new way of user interaction, enabling people to enjoy their own creativity. From now on, technology will feel different.”

No mention if any apps like Wacom’s Bamboo Paper for the iPad are incoming. The SDK for the S Pen is released in December so hopefully we’ll see some more artistic/sketch apps hitting the S Choice hub.
