Samsung’s powerful ‘Huron’ Windows Phone mobile leaked

A new quad-core Windows Phone handset from Samsung has leaked on Twitter, with a photo and some rather surprising specs.

Our friend @evleaks has been busy as ever on Twitter, this time revealing a black and white photo of a new 5-inch Windows Phone mobile from Samsung. Codenamed ‘Huron’ (another name for the Wyandot indigenous people of North America – cheers, Wikipedia), the new Samsung smartphone looks similar to the previous Samsung Ativ S, another Windows Phone handset.

As well as a pic, some specs for the new Samsung Huron have also leaked. Apparently the phone will pack a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, a chip usually found on top-end Androids, which will easily make this the most powerful Windows mobile yet. You can also expect an Adreno 305 GPU. Less thrilling is the supposed 1280 x 800 resolution for the 5-inch screen, although rumours have it the display will actually be Full HD.

Below you can see the Samsung Ativ S, a prior Samsung Windows Phone mobile which sports a very similar design. Aside from the lack of a back and search button on the Huron, the pair could almost be twins.

The Samsung Huron is an enticing prospect, and although no possible launch details have been revealed, we’d be surprised to see it at MWC 2014 this month. The concentration there should be fully on the new Samsung Galaxy S5, due to launch on Monday February 24.
