Shocking origin of Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play Android’s ‘thumb donor’ revealed

Remember the cool but incredibly creepy promo for the Xperia Play? The one which shows a green Android ‘improved’ with the addition of some human thumbs? Yeah we had a couple of sleepless nights too.

And now it looks like were about to have a few more; the origin of Sony Ericsson’s ‘thumb donor’ has been revealed in a follow up ad.

The clip uploaded to YouTube by Sony Ericsson shows a poor young lad not getting much help from the local authorities, as he explains how he came to lose his thumbs. Hey, at least they didn’t take his passport.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is due to arrive in the UK at the end of the month. It’ll come with the PS1 classic Crash Bandicoot pre-installed, along with Tetris, The Sims 3, FIFA 10, Star Battalion and Bruce Lee Dragon Warriors. 50 titles will be available to download from launch including Syphon Filter, MediEvil and Destruction Derby.

Stoked as we are about the PSP Phone finally seeing the light of day, we’re going to be sleeping with one eye open when we get hold of our copy, lest we wake up one morning covered in blood and missing our opposable digits.
