Quick off the bat as ever, Three has announced that it’ll be selling the Sony Xperia S here in the UK.
The HD-tastic Sony phone boasts a huge 4.3-inch screen with a scintillating 1280 x 720 resolution and a 12-megapixel main camera that records 1080p HD video.
Rolling with Android 2.3 Gingerbread when it launches later this quarter, the Sony Xperia S will get update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, one the Sony boffins can install Timescape on top of those Holo themes.
Sylvia Chind, head of handsets at Three said in a statement that, “The Sony Xperia S brings the best HD technology straight into the palm of your hand. Plus, with an impressive 12-megapixel camera, it’s perfect for fast-fingered photographers who want to upload images straight onto Facebook making the most of Three’s fast 3G network”.
Indeed, uploading 12-megapixel photos over a 3G network would require a pretty big data plan – an unlimited one perhaps? When we spoke to Three to ask for pricing and contract info we couldn’t get anything concrete.
We’d very much expect to see the Sony Xperia S on Three’s popular One Plan tariffs, contract deals which give you unlimited internet. We’ll be back at you with prices and a concrete release date as and when we hear about them.
