Let the flood of tablet rumours and announcements commence: If 2010 was the Year of Android phones, then 2011 is set to be the Year of Android tablets.
Toshiba is reportedly coming out swinging with this yet-to-be-unnamed 10.1-inch beast of a tablet. The mystery tab apparently runs on Honeycomb (the next edition of Android) and is powered by a Tegra 2 dual core processor.
According to Engagdet, that 10.1-inch screen apparently sports a resolution of 1280 x 800 and there’s rumoured to be two (count ‘em) cameras; a 5-megapixel camera for standard pics and a front mounted 2-megapixeler for video calls.
Other rumoured spec includes an SD card slot and an HDMI cable, so you’ll potentially be able to make Facetime-esque calls with an HD Ready TV set. We might not yet have hoverboards but soon we could be making video calls on big plasma screens, just like in Back to the Future Part II.
Now, can anyone come up with a tablet that can rehydrate me one of those mini pizzas?
Engadget says that the tablet is due to arrive in the first half of 2011, with a release date waiting on the official announcement of Honeycomb from Google. We spoke to Toshiba who declined to comment any further.
