Windows 8 adverts leaked ahead of launch

Windows 8’s arrival is just around the corner and the first wave of Windows 8 adverts set to grace our web browsers and TV screens in the near future, have leaked debuting key features and functionality of Microsoft’s new PC and tablet OS.

There’s no differentiation between the two forthcoming releases of Windows 8 and Windows RT, but the latter will offer a tablet focused user experience, whilst the standard iteration will be better suited to laptops and desktops.

The four videos discovered by Tech.co.il show a number of interesting elements which Windows 8/RT will offer. The tile centric UI is navigable by swiping left and right, but users can also jump between multiple homescreens in a single action and jump between open applications in much the same fashion. What’s more, a user can multitask with an adaptive UI that shows more of one app than other, but allows the user to govern the ratio of screen taken up by each app on the fly.

Security also features heavily in the videos, with users making custom unlock patterns using photographs as reference. The last notable element that the adverts emphasis is the seamless syncing of the new Windows experience between tablet and desktop. These are exciting times as both Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 are creeping onto the scene, with these videos pushing the motto ‘Work hard, play hard.’ The question is, will the final experience be as versatile as Microsoft promises?
