Optimus 2X European arrival delayed

The first dual-core phone, the LG Optimus 2X, has already been on sale in Korea since January, and looks like it may finally reach Europe this month. Promise.

In LG’s press release, they’ve said that the European roll-out will happen this March, and it should still be the first dual-core phone to reach the UK- though it will soon face challenges from Motorola’s Atrix, its own Optimus 3D, and Samsung’s super-skinny Galaxy S II.

It’s not going to be cheap, either, with prices spotted online going as high as £480 SIM-free. (Still almost half the price of a certain white phone.)

And while the Optimus 3D has, well, 3D, the Optimus 2X doesn’t have anything unique to separate it from slower, cheaper Android smartphones.

The Optimus 2X does boast both frotn and rear-facing cameras, with the main eight-megapixel camera capable of recording in full high-definition. It will arrive with Android Froyo, but LG are promising an update to the latest version of Android, Gingerbread, is forthcoming. In their own words, “The upgrade schedule will be announced in local markets in the near future.”
