Deals of the week: Top five pay-as-you-go offers

Lost your uber-cool smartphone and need a replacement quick sharp? We’ve found five of the best pay-as-you-go offers currently available.

Nokia 5230 – £110 on Vodafone

The Nokia 5230 is a compact touchscreen phone which confidently doubles as a music player. You can expand the Nokia 5230’s 70MB of memory up to 16GB with a microSD card (sold separately) for additional storage. There’s also a 3.5mm jack so you can use your own headphones. On Vodafone’s Pay-as-you-go Simply plan you can choose to sign up for a Freedom Pack – which turns a £10 top up into £50 worth of calls and texts – Text Unlimited (unlimited texts if you top up by £30 a month) or Free Weekends, which gives you free calls and texts every weekend if you use £5 worth of credit throughout the week. LG Viewty – £80 plus £10 top up on Orange

The LG Viewty has been around for a while now but its 5-megapixel camera (xenon flash, auto focus, Schneider optics) still packs a punch – and you can have a lot of fun with the slow motion video record function. The LG Viewty is a 3G phone, which means you can upload your cinematic creations to YouTube direct from the phone. You’ll probably want to sign up for an Orange Dolphin pay as you go plan, as this will give you free internet use every time you top up £10 (with a 50MB monthly limit). Link to deal.

BlackBerry Curve 8520 – £149.99 plus £10 top up on T-Mobile

The BlackBerry Curve 8520 boasts an optical trackpad instead of a traditional trackball. As there’s less moving components, there’s also less chance of it breaking. Currently you get 6 months free internet access on the Curve 8520 when you but it on T-Mobile. After 6 months you could then sign up for a Flexible Booster on a separate T-Mobile SIM-only plan (from £10 a month) if you wanted to carry on getting unlimited internet on your Curve 8520. Samsung Diva – £100 on O2

The Samsung Diva is a bit of a controversial phone here at Recombu. Depending on how you feel about the Diva, you can currently get your perfectly manicured hands on one for a round £100 on O2 (normally £120). You can augment shots taken on the a 3.2-megapixel camera with the Diva’s built in ‘Lomo’ effect and access Facebook and Twitter on the move, meaning you can keep your Little Monsters updated on the go. We’d recommend opting for O2’s Text and Web pay as you go offering, as this gives you unlimited texts and web use when you top up £30 a month. Link to deal.

Sony Ericsson T715 – £80 plus £10 top up on 3

Not only do you get free Skype-to-Skype calls and free calls to other 3 numbers forever with the Sony Ericsson T715 on 3, but from now until the end of the month you also get free access to Twitter. The more you top up each month, the more free texts you’ll earn – a £10 top up gives you 300 free texts, and a £20 top up gives you 1000. Free internet allowance is also included, which means you don’t have to worry about going over your limit. Link to deal.
