BlackBerry Bold 9790 and BlackBerry Curve 9380 announced: Two more NFC ‘berries for Team OS 7

RIM has just added two more phones to it’s OS 7 stable, BlackBerry Bold 9790 and the BlackBerry Curve 9380.

The BlackBerry Bold 9790 is, as you’d expect, classic BlackBerry. It places a premium on design and build quality and prominently features a ‘highly tactile’ keyboard and an optical control. If it’s in any way similar to the Bold 9900 then this ought to be another winner.

As with the 9900, NFC comes along for the ride, snuggling up to a 1GHz processor, 8GB of storage and support for up to 32GB via microSD. Though once SDXC cards start hitting the market, that probably won’t stop us experimenting with 64GB cards…

No mention of the megapixelage of the 9790’s camera although we’d hope that it’d match the 5-megapixels and 720p recording ability of the 9900.

Alongside the 9790 comes a curveball – the BlackBerry Curve 9380. This is notable for being the first BlackBerry in the Curve range to have a full touch screen. The 3.2-inch display is complimented by an optical control and the usual four BlackBerry control keys. The Curve 9380 includes a 5-megapixel camera with a flash and comes with an NFC chip.

Both of these ‘berries then are futureproofed for all kinds of mobile payment malarkey and BlackBerry Tag, RIM’s tap-to-share-everything platform.

Release dates for both of these phones is at tentative “in the coming weeks” at the moment. More info as and when we get it.
