Huawei announces Huawei Ascend D quad XL and Huawei Ascend D1

Alongside the “world’s fastest” Huawei Ascend D quad, Huawei also announced an additional two phones to its line-up, the Huawei Ascend D quad XL and the Huawei Ascend D1.

Of the two, it’s easily the Huawei Ascend D quad XL that most appeals to us. It’s a basically the exact same phone as the Huawei Ascend D quad, but with a slightly fatter frame – 10.9mm – and a massive 2500 mAh battery.

Huawei is saying hand on heart that the Huawei Ascend D quad XL will give you two to three days of normal usage.

For an Android phone, we think that’s pretty incredible. We’ll have to get hold of one ourselves to test the claim but we’re very happy about the prospect of being able to leave our phone chargers at home for once. And 10.9mm doesn’t exactly make it a brick either.

We’d take those extra millimetres if it means we can get up to three days of juice.

The Huawei Ascend D1 again, is very similar to the Huawei Ascend D quad on the outside and in – save for the fact that it’s running on a dual-core CPU (1.5GHz) and has a 1670mAh battery. So while the Ascend D1 won’t be as powerful, this undoubtedly means it’ll be priced a little lower.

We’re not seriously expecting it to be priced as low as last year’s Huawei-made Vodafone Smart but we can but hope.

Like the Huawei Ascend D quad, the Huawei Ascend D quad XL and the Huawei Ascend D1 will he heading to European markets in Q2 of this year, as well as practically everywhere else in the world.
