iPhone PRO concept turns the iPhone 5 into a DSLR camera

Professional photographers carry a lot of kit around with them but if this concept for the Apple iPhone 5 was put into production they’d just have to pop a DSLR lens onto their handset and snap away.

This iPhone PRO concept has been created by designer Choi Jinyoung and as well as that mount for camera lenses, it would include a 1.2-megapixel 3D camera and a removable hard disk (the latter being quite handy for large photo file transfers).

Will the heavy lens make it a little bit too front-heavy to work as a proper camera? Perhaps an iTripod is the next concept that needs adding to this design.

The possibilities thrown up by the rear connection point seem to be pretty wide-ranging too, with either a beam projector or a portable speaker connecting to it. In this picture (above) it looks a bit like a Sony NEX 5.

As you can see from the images, the iPhone PRO would also use the rumoured 4.5-inch edge-to-edge screen (1280 x 800) that has been a popular feature of iPhone 5 concept devices.

If we’re being picky, we’d say it’s just missing the three separate retina displays touted by the Three Steps Beyond iPhone 5 concept
