Kongregate Arcade brings hundreds of Flash games to the Android Market

Yes folks, it’s another Android app/game ecosystem. This time its Kongregate Arcade, which brings hundreds of Flash-based games to your Android phone.

It’s pretty much a mini-Android Market that’s chock full of Flash-based games. And as they’re Flash-based this means that its strictly for Android 2.2+ phones with Flash Player 10.1 installed.

Kongregate Arcade offers mobile versions of many of the titles on offer at kongregate.com, and if you’re a regular visitor, you’ll already have an idea of what’s in store.

Simple puzzlers like Screw the Nut (fnar) however are perfectly suited to mobile. This addictive physics-based puzzler is alone worth downloading Kongregate Arcade for.

Some games however aren’t that suited to be played on phones. Shoot! for Mobile, for example, see you dragging a moving, firing spaceship across a screen. Normally you’d use a mouse pointer to drag the craft about the place on the desktop version. But as you have to use a finger or thumb, it obscures the field of play somewhat. We ended up dying a lot.

If you’ve already got an account with Kongregate, you can sign in through the app and have all your scores synced. If not, you can easily create one within the app.

Note that some games will need a live net connection for you to be able to play, while others can be downloaded, so check before you set off on a long train journey to avoid disappointment.

Update: Kongregate Arcade is no longer available from the Android Market – the link below now redirects to Kongregate’s site, where you can download the app for free.
