Prices and UK specs revealed for the new Toyota Yaris, which sports a bold cross-shaped front-end.
Toyota has been kind enough to announce the UK price and specifications for the 2014 Toyota Yaris, which is on sale now and will arrive in the UK from August 2014.
The new Yaris comes with a choice of four engines, including a 1.33VVT-i petrol, 1.4 D-4D and a three-cylinder 1.0-litre, which now boasts 99g/km of CO2 emissions making it cheap to tax. There is also a Yaris Hybrid capable of 85.6mpg.
Buyers will have a choice of Active, Icon, Sport and Excel trim levels (now known as grades) to choose between. A leather steering wheel, air-conditioning and Toyota’s Touch 2 infotainment system, which includes a DAB digital radio, are all standard on the Icon grade and above.
Climate control is standard on all Hybrid models and the Yaris Excel. Toyota Touch 2 with Go, a navigation systemm, is available on the Icon, Sport and Excel grades.
Active comes with electric front windows, 6-speaker system with AUX-in and USB for connecting various gadgets, 7 airbags, tyre pressure monitor, Vehicle Stability Control and traction control. Icon adds 15-inch alloys, projector headlights, body-coloured, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, front fog lamps, Bluetooth connectivity
Sport adds bigger alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, LED tail lights, rear spoiler, rear disc brakes and an optional Piri Piri red interior trim. Atop the range is Excel, which adds part-leather seats, rain-sensing wipers, dusk-sensing headlights and climate control.
Those who choose the Excel can further pimp their 2014 Yaris with the £750 Appearance Pack that adds a rear spoiler, rear privacy glass, Skyview panoramic roof. Or there’s the £450 Smart Pack and its push-button engine start, smart entry and auto-folding door mirrors.
A plethora of exterior and interior aesthetic customisation options help ensure you struggle to keep to budget.
Toyota says the new Yaris benefits from steering, handling and agility improvements over the outgoing model. True or not, it certainly looks less fuddy-duddy. The funky new Renault Twingo has some competition.
Prices start at £10,995 for the most basic Active three-door, five-speed 1.0-litre VVT-i model. A five-door 1.33-litre Dual VVT-i starts from £14,095 with a six-speed transmission. King of the range is the £17,695 five-door Excel 1.5 VVT-i Hybrid with CVT automatic.
