Artist turns famous vehicles into Transformers

Ever wanted to see the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 car reimagined as a transformer? You’ve come to the right place.

At no point have we ever thought to ourselves, “what would iconic cars look like if they were transformers?” Well it turns out we wish we had, because drawings by artist Darren Rawlings satisfy our inner 80’s geek perfectly.

The ‘Botmobiles’ posted on Rawlings’ DeviantArt page show a number of famous vehicles reimagined as robots in disguise. We especially like the Ghost Busters ‘Ecto-1’, Optimus DeLorean and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, while our inner petrolhead is partial to Knight Rider’s Kitt.

We’re not sure what else Rawlings could’ve drawn to improve the collection. Maybe the 1968 Ford Mustang GT Fastback from Steve McQueen’s Bullitt? That creepy van from the first Jeepers Creepers film? The Aston Martin DB5 from James Bond? Now there’s a thought.

Over the course of the day the article has been picked up by Shortlist and Mashable and caused quite a stir on social networks. Father-of-three Rawlings is the owner of creative director of Thinkmore Studios in Canada.
