Audi A8 Edition 21 celebrates 21 years of business class cruising

Audi has announced a special edition version of the A8 luxury saloon to celebrate 21 years since the model was introduced.

The Audi A8 ‘Edition 21’ will be limited to a production of just 121 cars in the UK and is available in normal and long wheelbase forms, priced from £72,525 and £76,490, respectively.

Audi has been generous with the revisions over the standard A8, chief of which is the Sport styling package that’s a nod to the sporty S8. This includes revised front and rear bumpers and more pronounced side sills for a meatier look.

Adaptive Audi Matrix LED headlights (an option that debuted on the latest A8), LED rear lights, dynamic indicators, 20-inch double spoke alloys and a choice of four external paint colours – including the S8’s grey pearl effect – complete the suit and tie with attitude look.

The interior spec is based on SE Executive but goes further by giving you a choice of either cognac brown with black stitching or black leather with red stitching. It also has comfort front sport seats with a memory function, 22-way adjustability and a pneumatic lumbar and side bolster support.

In addition, the Edition 21 has a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, illuminated door sill plates with the Edition 21 emblem, black cloth headlining, Bose surround system and Audi’s connect infotainment system with navigation.

All A8 Edition 21 cars will have a 3.0-litre V6 TDI capable of 262PS and 580Nm of torque, resulting in a punchy 0-62mph time of 5.9 seconds. The long wheelbase model, meanwhile, is only two-tenths slower and has the same electronically limited 155mph top speed. Fuel economy and CO2 emissions are 47.9mpg and 155g/km, respectively, for the standard car.

You can head over to Audi if you want to put in a pre-order. Expect deliveries in November 2015.
