Brabus 800 iBusiness is an 800hp off-road behemoth

Brabus turns the Mercedes G65 into one of the most powerful off-roaders the world has ever seen.

The Mercedes G65 AMG was a bit of an animal, to put it midly. Tuning specialist Brabus thought it would, therefore, be a good idea to make the utilitarian machine even more mental, resulting in the Brabus 800 iBusiness you see before you.

The Brabus 800 has the same 6.0-litre V12 found in the G65 AMG, only two Brabus special turbochargers, a Brabus valve-control exhaust system and Brabus special intercooler have been fitted. It outputs a whopping 800hp (789bhp) and an even more staggering 1,420Nm (1047lb/ft) of torque from 2,100rpm, which is electronically limited to 1,100Nm (811lb/ft).

To put that into perspective, the standard Mercedes G65 AMG outputs a mere 612hp while a Range Rover 5.0-litre V8 supercharged an even more paltry 503bhp. Suffice to say, we expect the fuel economy to be pitiful.

The Brabus 800 iBusiness manages a 0 to 62mph time of 4.2 seconds, making it as fast as the Vauxhall VXR8 GTS and faster than an Aston Martin Rapide S. It tops out at an electronically limited 155mph or 167mph with the limiter removed. Impressive stuff for a machine that has all the aerodynamic properties of a P&O ferry.

Brabus has fettled with the aesthetics to give add presence (as if it needed any). The 800 iBusiness comes with a Brabus rear skirt, underride protection, front and rear fender flares, LED daytime running lights, Brabus headlights, Brabus Monoblock F light ‘Platinum Edition’ alloy wheels, carbon fibre bits and bobs and a roof spoiler with an additional brake light built in.

The interior benefits from various Brabus goodies including doorlock pins, aluminium pedal pads, shift paddles, entrance illumination and plenty of Cognac Alcantara and leather throughout the cockpit. There’s also a 15.6-inch monitor in the roof and two smaller displays behind the front headrests to keep passengers entertained while you drive over other road users.

Before you bust out your cheque book you should know the Brabus 800 iBusiness is very expensive. The price, according to official London Brabus agent Bob Forstner Park Lane, is £352,445 plus VAT.

Expect more details to emerge after its Geneva Motor Show debut.
