An unlucky jogger was hit by a flying deer after the animal collided with an SUV.
An elderly woman struck a deer whilst driving her large SUV vehicle, sending it flying through the air. The hapless animal then landed on an even more hapless jogger. The runner, Krystine Rivera, from Virginia, USA, said she remembers running one minute and then waking up in the back of an ambulance (possibly vaguely smelling of venison) the next.
She said she also remembers paramedics telling her they had to cut one of her favourite running shirts away because “it had so much deer blood all over it.”
The impact of the deer caused Kristine to be treated for concussion, a deep cut to her scalp, and severe bruising to her right knee. She was taken to a nearby hospital for her injuries. The elderly driver was also taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries. The deer, sadly, died at the scene.
Kristine said: “I thought that the run would make me feel better after work. I was running, then I was on the ground and then was listening to the paramedic. I’m surprised I made it out alive.”
Kristine’s work colleagues have nicknamed her ‘The Hulk’, a play on her tiny five-foot frame. She added: “I guess now they can really call me that.”
