Dangerous drunk driver crashes twice in dash cam video

A video of an extremely drunk driver who crashes twice has been published online. It shows Martin Cantrill driving along the A14 near Kettering at three and a half times the legal limit.

Mr Cantrill’s Rover 25 can be seen crashing into the central reservation on the road in Northamptonshire, causing the vehicle to end up badly damaged and facing the wrong way. A dash cam in a nearby car captured the footage.

Rather than stop, the driver carries on as if nothing happened on the dual carriageway, until it all goes horribly wrong again and the car swerves from the right lane into the left, causing a truck to brake hard and horn.

One of the motorists in the car with the dash cam, Tom Cafferty, can be heard expressing the driver’s stupidity – with a few choice words unsuitable for young ears – before asking his friend to call the police.

“[Mr Cantrill] was swerving in and out of lanes and I couldn’t believe it when he went over onto the grass verge but then kept on driving,” Cafferty told the Metro Newspaper.

Driving while three and a half times over the legal limit of 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath landed the 43-year-old with a 10-month sentence suspended for 12 months and a three-year driving ban.

Commenters on the YouTube video, which has seen more than 600,000 views, have mainly condemned the stupidity of the drunk driver.

Scotland recently lowered its drink-drive limit to 50mg per 100ml of breath. Check out the sweary video and let us know your thoughts.
