Who’s the best Formula 1 driver? We went for a spin with ex-F1 driver David Coulthard to get his thoughts on the current crop, the state of modern F1 cars and grabbed a few tips on how to improve our lap time.
Best of all, arguably, is the fact we conducted the interview while hurtling around the Goodwood motor circuit in one of the fastest supercars available today; a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Edition.
Naturally, Coulthard had plenty say about who he thought had the edge in modern F1, citing Hamilton, Alonso and Vettel as the top three drivers, despite acknowledging the latter was going through a bad patch. Coulthard also singled out Nico Rosberg and Daniel Ricciardo as excellent drivers, although perhaps not yet at the same level as the top three.
Whilst on our spin, Coulthard also revealed what it was like to drive the SLS AMG on the limit, explained how the flagship Mercedes compared to a Formula 1 car and revealed his top tip for getting a faster lap time on any circuit.
