Half of all Brits admit to having sex in cars

It seems the British are not as prudish as many people presume. Research has revealed Brits have a strong penchant for having sex in their cars and do so quite often.

Car manufacturer BBA Reman surveyed 2,018 British adults and found 49 per cent of respondents have enjoyed a bit of hanky panky in their car at least once in their lifetime. The average number of times was found to be five.

Although you would perhaps expect Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Aston Martins to be home to the most mobile rumpy pumpy, it’s the Ford Fiesta (the UK’s biggest selling car) that sees the most action, followed by the Volkswagen Golf, Vauxhall Corsa, Mini, Renault Clio, Peugeot 205, Ford Escort, Volvo V70(!), Nissan Micra and Vauxhall Astra.

Interestingly, only 17 per cent of respondents who have had sex in their car had done the deed in the last year. 27 per cent admitted it happened more than a decade ago.

While you would expect hormone-ravaged youths to be most likely to have had sex in a motor vehicle, only 38 per cent of respondents aged 18 to 34 admitted they had, compared with 59 per cent of those aged 35 to 55.

So where do Brits go to do the dirty in a car? The most common response with 37 per cent said ‘at a viewpoint’, 29 per cent said ‘in a car park’ and 22 per cent said ‘on a driveway’. Luckily for other road users, only 3 per cent of love making occurred in a moving car.

“We all remember what it’s like to be young and in love, but with very little privacy or places to be alone with a partner,” BBA Reman founder Chris Swan said. “It seems that the high number of older adults admitting to engaging in sexual activities in their cars highlights a generation gap.”

‘Nowadays, it is much more acceptable for younger unmarried couples to share a bed compared to twenty or thirty years ago when they had to sneak away for some fun.”

“They say that Britain is a nation of prudes, well I think I can safely say our research disproves that theory!” he added.
