Handpresso Auto E.S.E. turns your car into a coffee shop

Many motorists rely on a strong mug of coffee to keep them going on long, tedious journeys, but who the hell has time to pull over for their mug of joe? Not us. Luckily there’s a new gadget that’s designed to give you that much-needed caffiene kick on the move.

The Handpresso Auto E.S.E. is a portable, hand-held device that sits in a cup holder or equivalent storage area. Once the user fills it with water and connects it to the car’s cigarette lighter, it heats the water and generates 16 bar of pressure in order to provide hot, tasty, brain-slapping espresso.

The entire process takes about two minutes and once your hot beverage is ready, it’ll beep to indicate it’s ready to be consumed.

The Handpresso Auto E.S.E. comes with a bag or an optional carry case so you can store it or carry it anywhere. It’s pretty compact, measuring 70mm in circumference, so even the smallest of cars should be able to accommodate one with ease.

Obviously using the machine while driving isn’t recommended (read our guide on the legal ramifications of eating and drinking while driving) if only to avoid the pain of spilling hot coffee on your crotch.

18 Arabica, Decaf or Espresso Blend E.S.E. coffee pods will set you back between £4 and £4.50, which means a single coffee will cost about 25p, or you can use your own ground beans. The device itself costs £139 and can be bought from Handpresso’s UK website.
