Word on the web is that Bugatti is working on a hyper-powerful ‘super Veyron’ that’s so fast, it can make your eyeballs burst against the back of your skull. Not to be outdone, Hennessey Performance is busy cooking up its own cat-phlegm-crazy monster car that’ll do lots of miles per hour in very little time.
The car in question is the Hennessey Venom GT2, the follow-up to the hugely powerful Hennessey Venom GT. Exactly how many miles it’ll travel in a sixty-minute timespan is currently unknown, and we dont yet know how many seconds it’ll take it to achieve that top speed, but we do know how much power it’ll have – lots and lots.
The Hennessey Venom GT2 will use the same 7-litre twin-turbo V8 as the Hennessey Venom GT, but this time round it won’t produce 1,200hp, oh no. Here, it’s been tuned to crank out a monstrous 1,500hp. What’s more, it’ll slip more easily through the air, thanks to a drag coefficient of 0.42 – an improvement on the previous car’s 0.44.
Hennessey claimed the original Venom GT could achieve 272mph, though this has never been tested. It’ll be interesting to see, then, how fast it reckons this thing can go bearing in mind the increase in power.
The Venom GT2 will cost $1.25 million (£780,000), but that price will leap by a further $165,000 (£103,000) if you plump for the optional seven speed “paddle shift transmission”, though whether that’s automatic or manual is currently unknown.
The Venom GT2 is due for release in late 2013. We’ll bring you more details on this monster as soon as we have them. In the meantime, have a gander at the pictures in our gallery below.
