It’s a little known fact that when Batman isn’t rolling around in the Batmobile, he drives a Hyundai i30. He absolutely loves the thing, but not as much as he might love this new Hyundai HND-9 sports coupe concept.
The Hyundai HND-9, so called because it is the 9th concept model to be developed by Hyundai Motor Group’s R&D Centre in Namyang Korea, is quite the looker. A two-door coupe, it has more than a hint of Aston Martin about it, with a Vantage-style grille, One-77 proportions, about it, with a Vantage V12 Zagato-style rear.
The Hyundai HND-9’s interior is something of a mystery at this stage, but from the concept sketches Hyundai has released, we can make out a chunky, highly stylised steering wheel, sculpted sports seats and a quirky, contemporary-looking dashboard all hidden behind dramatic butterfly doors.
Power will come from a 3.3-litre turbo GDi petrol engine throwing 370PS to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. That doesn’t sound like an awful lot, but here’s hoping the HND-9 will be light enough to have a favourable power to weight ratio. And hell, even if it is slow, that’ll at least give people plenty of opportunity to see the thing cruise by.
The Hyundai HND-9 is set to make its world debut during Hyundai’s press conference on the 28th March at the 2013 Seoul Motor Show. Expect more details to appear closer to the date. In the meantime, have a gander at the images and then relive our Toronto Batman vs Hyundai i30 video.
