Jaguar confirms F-Type Coupé, reveals first picture

Jaguar has officially announced the existence of the Jaguar F-Type Coupé, the hard-top version of the F-Type Convertible released earlier this year. The new model, which promises to be “the most dynamically capable, performance-focussed, production Jaguar ever”, will make its world debut at the Los Angeles auto show on November 19th.

Jaguar says the F-Type Coupé will feature the ‘uncompromised design vision’ of the C-X16 concept, first unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2011. We’ll have to take their word for it — we only have one measly picture to go on and it’s taken from above.

“The excitement generated when we revealed the C-X16 concept was terrific; so to now be on the cusp of what I can assure you will be a drama-filled reveal event in Los Angeles for F-Type Coupé is a very significant moment,” Jaguar design director Ian Callum said.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the positive reaction to F-Type Convertible, but for me the purity of creating a sports Coupé is a uniquely satisfying process – and I know that both visually and dynamically, F-Type Coupé raises the bar yet again,” he added.

Given how British weather is prone to ruining a good drive in the country, the F-Type Coupé could be just what the doctor ordered, especially if it’s as fun to drive as its Convertible cousin.

After you’ve checked the Coupé out in all of its un-cropped glory be sure to check out our Jaguar F-Type V6 S first drive. You know it makes sense.
