Journalist pretends to be Michael Schumacher’s dad

Reporter pretends to be F1 legend’s father to gain access to his hospital room in Grenoble.

A journalist keen to access the hospital room where seven-time Formula One world Michael Schumacher is recovering attempted to impersonate his father, it has been reported.

The unidentified reporter disguised himself as the father to try and gain access to the hospital room where 45-year-old Schumacher is recovering after a skiing accident that occurred on December 29th of 2013.

This, it turns out, is one of many cunning attempts. We previously reported on a journalist that dressed up as a priest. This particular attempt ended with the journalist being marched out of the hospital.

“There was also another person who tried to come in [disguised] as Michael’s father,” Schumacher’s manager Sabine Kehm said in a television interview. “There were a lot of cases of people who have tried to go into the ICU, perhaps to take a photo or a video.” Exactly how successful the attempts have been is unknown.

Schumacher’s condition is reportedly improving. The most recent official statement from Kehm said there were “moments of consciousness and awakening”. Prior to that he had been in a medically-induced coma at the Grenoble University Hospital, which he was flown to after sustaining a head injury at the Meribel resort in France while skiing off-piste.

“Each case is individual; every brain injury can affect someone differently,” Kehm explained. “No doctor could answer these questions.”

“We are on his side during his long and difficult fight, together with the team of the hospital in Grenoble and we keep remaining confident, Kehm added.

Earlier in the year Schumacher was said to be failing to respond to stimuli and had been hit by a lung infection.

If Schumacher wakes up, which we hope he does, he will be moved to a rehabilitation clinic.
