Kia Sportage images, pricing and specs

Kia Sportage freshened up for 2014.

Kia has revealed the new Sportage. We bet you can hardly contain your excitement. The popular SUV is available to pre-order now and will be in showrooms from February 2014.

A number of styling upgrades are designed to keep the Sportage looking ‘fresh’, including a new front grille, alloy wheels and slightly tweaked rear lights to improve aesthetics and illumination. On higher spec models expect a ‘shark-fin’ antenna and LED functionality built into the rear lights.

The interior has been given a tidy up. Now all models come with a redesigned instrument display. Higher spec models enjoy the luxury of a 4.3-inch TFT LCD touchscreen display for all infotainment needs as well as a heated steering wheel and 6-way adjustable driver’s seat.

A 7-inch colour touchscreen is available on the pricier satnav models, which includes mapping for 44 European countries, full UK postcode recognition, traffic messaging with detour functionality, speed limit warnings and multi-route planning. Both displays are linked up to a rear-view camera to make parking easier.

Other notable options include the Infinity premium audio system usually reserved for the Kia Optima saloon – just in case the idea of seven speakers and a subwoofer does it for you. There’s also Kia’s Flex Steer system for choosing between three levels of power steering.

A number of new Kia Sportage variants have been added to the 16-car range, including a 1.6-litre direct-injection petrol engine, 1.7-litre turbodiesel top-spec two-wheel drive and an entry-level all-wheel drive 2.0-litre CRDi available with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic. Incidentally all-wheel drive is now standard on all 2.0-litre models.

The 1.6GDi has 133bhp, 165Nm of torque and averages 44.1mpg. CO2 emissions are 149g/km. The 1.7 CRDi is less powerful at 114bhp but has 260Nm of torque on tap and can manage a range-topping 54.3mpg. The 2.0 litre offers the most power and fuel efficiency between its two siblings.

The Kia Sportage comes with a seven year or 100,000 mile warranty. A three or five-year servicing package, known as Care-3 and Care-3 Plus respectively, can be specified for a few more quid if you want even more peace of mind.

Prices start at £17,495 for the ‘1’ 1.6 GDi 6-speed manual rising to £29,495 for the ‘KX-4’ 2.0-litre CRDi six-speed auto.
