Lamborghini unearths £2.8m Veneno Roadster

For those of you who had a spare few million quid for a Lamborghini Veneno but narrowly missed the chance to buy one because only three were built, we bring good news.

You can now splurge €3.3m (£2.8m) excluding tax on the wonderfully mad yet stylish Veneno Roadster.

Like the hard-top Veneno, the recently unveiled Roadster borrows the 6.5-litre V12 found in the Aventador LP700-4, except it’s been tuned to deliver 750hp. It’s light, too — just 1,490kg, which works out at roughly 1hp for every 2kg of weight.

Stick your foot down and the Veneno Roadster channels all that oomph through a four-wheel drive system, with gear changes taken care of by a seven-speed ISR paddleshift gearbox. 0 to 62mph takes a mere 2.9 seconds – about a tenth of a second slower than the Veneno coupe – while the top speed is 221mph (1mph less).

Just in case the ceramic brakes are insufficient to keep you out of trouble, Lamborghini has been kind enough to provide a roll bar, which you will need because no roof is provided.

Other notable inclusions to the new model include CarbonSkin fabric used on the interior to save weight, a unique Rosso Veneno red paintjob, carbon fibre alloy wheels that provide additional cooling to the brakes and five driving modes to help you increase or decrease the amount of whiplash you want to suffer every time you accelerate.

Did we mention it’s fully road-legal? Yes, this bonkers contraption can be driven to the shops without the police getting in a strop.

The Italian car manufacturer said it will be building just nine Veneno Roadsters so youll have to move fast if you want one.
