Built to conquer just about every terrain mother nature can dish up, the specially modified Mercedes-Benz G-Class uses the power of six-wheel drive, giving each of the six 37 inch rims a taste of the 544bhp AMG V8 engine and the monstrous 760Nm of torque it generates.
Sitting at 2.3 metres high, 2.1 metres wide and 5.87 metres long, the word behemoth is an understatement ─ lorries aside, you’ll be the king of the road sitting in one of these. Performance figures are currently unknown but the German manufacturer uses the term “catapult-like acceleration” so it should be no slouch.
It features portal axles that aid ground clearance, five differential locks, an off-road low range ratio courtesy of the SpeedShift Plus 7G-Tronic automatic gearbox to maximise traction, on-the-fly tire pressure adjustment for combating certain types of terrain and 15 different spring rates. Try that in your Qashqai.
Being a Merc, the G 63 AMG is pretty luxurious. The dashboard houses a central colour display for the sat-nav, stereo and vehicle settings, there are four electrically adjustable heated and ventilated leather seats to keep you comfy when driving over whoever nicked your parking space.
Mercedes-Benz will only build the G 63 AMG 6×6 terrain-destroyer if enough people show interest in the thing. Even then, it’ll probably only be made in very limited numbers so the images below may end up being the closest you will ever come to one.
