Mercedes Makeover: Is the SLK 55 AMG a hairdresser’s car?

We love the Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG, but it has been said, mainly by the uninitiated, that it’s a bit of a hairdresser’s car. People say it’s a bit too soft to be a proper sports car so we decided to put that theory to the test in this special review.

Here, we attempt to give our model, Georgie, a makeover by attempting to do her hair while on the move. We started by giving her blonde locks a light shampoo, then a blow dry using the car’s clever Airscarf system, followed by a re-style and ultimately, a bit of a cut. Yes, with scissors.

She came to us asking for a trim at the back, layers done at the front, some curling and a slightly adjusted fringe. Instead, we gave her three pigtails and a bald patch.

Unsurprisingly, she walked away not feeling particularly happy with the outcome, which we think is sufficient proof the SLK 55 AMG is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a car for hairdressers – at least not ones that attempt to perform their work while sat behind the steering wheel.

Have a look at the action for yourself and let us know what you think of the video, of Georgie’s makeover and of the SLK55 AMG. When you’re done, why not subscribe to our YouTube channel and tell your friends about us?

Remember, kids: We’re trained professionals and this video was filmed on a closed course. Don’t attempt to try any of what you see at home.
