Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S: The ‘S’ stands for sexy-ish

Toyota will unveil a more stylish version of its Outlander PHEV plug-in hybrid SUV at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. The Concept-S, as it is known, is said to be a “special design package”.

We’re guessing the Outlander PHEV Concept-S will be a sportier or fancier version of the current car, but it could well be a glimpse at the model’s successor. Either way, we know it’s powered by a combination of two electric motors and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol like the Outlander PHEV.

Mitsubishi has bestowed the Concept-S with wraparound headlights and a cleaner, more futuristic front bumper design. At the back are ‘elongated’ rear lights and chrome accents, while a Platinum White glass flake finish completes the look.

The interior, meanwhile, goes for a more traditional look. A ‘Black & Burgundy’ colour scheme with black wood trim and silver accents is meant to give you a ‘refined’ place to sit.

The production Outlander PHEV is capable of generating 148mpg from its 279bhp powertrain. Prices start from £28,249 after the UK government’s incentive.

We’ll leave you with the one decent image released by Mitsubishi while we wait for the 2014 Paris Motor Show to kick off on October 4th.
