Motorist prays at the wheel, crashes into house

Driving and praying are hardly two things you should do at the same time, but that didn’t stop an American woman from doing it anyway.

28-year-old Ruqiyyah Abdur-Raqeeb-Sadiq was charged with dangerous driving after her moment of prayer while at the wheel led to her driving into a house along the eastbound Marcia Drive in the coastal city of Mary Esther of Florida.

Reports say the woman admitted to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office she had closed her eyes to pray, at which point she careered through a stop sign, across an intersection and into the wall of a property on Miramar Drive.

In a bid to try to make the situation look less bad, which took place on Thursday morning, the woman attempted to reverse away from the scene in her 2005 Ford but is said to have got stuck in a patch of sand.

The driver was taken to be assessed at hospital to be on the safe side. The occupants of the home, meanwhile, were unhurt.

The Fort Walton Beach resident was later cited for reckless driving with property damage and is scheduled to be in court on the 26th of July, 2016.
