Wrap your eyeballs around pictures of the new 2015 Ford Mustang

Pictures of the new Ford Mustang have surfaced. Ford Mustang forum Mustang6g.com has published scans of the new muscle car, obtained from a leaked copy of Autoweek magazine. The pictures appear just hours after we revealed the American muscle car was headed to European and UK shores.

The new car has the quintessential Mustang look about it, but sports a number of modern flourishes designed to drag the thing into the modern era and broaden its international appeal. The angular headlights with diagonal LED day-running strips are very on-trend, while the foglights, previously placed in the centre of the large central grille, have now been moved below the main headlamps.

The 2015 Mustang is very similar in profile to the 2014 model, although it appears to have a slightly shorter rear overhang, and a gloss-covered B-Pillar that helps the window line flow almost uninterrupted. The rear is tweaked also, the biggest changes being the slimmer, vertically-aligned brake lights and a diffuser that looks a bit like the a Klingon Bat’leth (one for you Star Trek fans out there).

Details of the new car are pretty thin on the ground, but Internet forums are rife with talk that the new car will be around 200lbs (90kg) lighter than the previous model, thanks to use of aluminium fenders. Power will likely come form a 2.3-litre turbocharged inline-four cylinder engine and a 5.0-litre V8. As for handling, that’ll be taken care of with independent rear suspension, so there’s every chance it won’t handle like a barn.

More on this as we get it.
